It’s almost the holiday season here in the United States of America and that means food! Lots of food! And most will be decadently rich and calorie-laden. It is very common to add a few pounds during the holidays. However, that can be avoided. This episode will give a few simple tips to keep you focused and successful, and still allow you to enjoy yourself!

“Wow! You are really doing good! You’ve lost a lot of weight! Oh, yeah, I made brownies, just for you. I put the plate in the office kitchen. Help yourself!”
How do YOU handle that?
If you don’t have a plan now, you are going to have problems, because we are entering the food holiday season in the US. But don’t worry. In this episode, I have some ideas that may help you.

Calories are calories, right? I mean, if over 7 days you burn 3500 calories more than you consume, doesn’t that mean you will automatically lose 1 pound? Popcorn, apples, butter, quinoa, bacon, tofu, lentils and dark chocolate. A calorie is a calorie.
Well, maybe. And maybe not. My friend from LoseIt, Charles Kemp, disagreed with some of my recent statements, and I wanted to further explore his comments and find a way to bring both of our belief systems into closer alignment. Because, in my humble opinion, we are both correct!

Where do you find your inspiration? What happens when you lose it?
This is an episode that I recorded in June, 2015. Almost immediately after recording this, my own muse vanished. Later, I bought a new computer and moved all my files. Today, I found it.
It’s only slightly dated. I recorded this about a month after my knee replacements, and it talks about how to get started toward any goal. How to write more. Create more. Walk more. Even lose weight. It is based on this blog post, from my friend Scott Wilson.
I originally interviewed him in episode 20, released back on June 9, 2014. His blog continues to this day!

Yes. I actually dared bring politics into my podcast. Besides religion, politics is major one of the most polarizing topics. It can quickly bring out the ugly side of people.
Don’t worry. I don’t get too bad. (Just a little bad.)

Weight loss myths, scams, quackery and food-woo. Many, many bogus ideas are floating around (read Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest if you want some examples) and I will explain four different topics in this episode. This will be the first of many myth episodes. I won’t release all of them at once (I don’t want to excessively bore you) but from time to time, I will publish future myth episodes.

What causes you to make poor choices–or no choices at all? We all have our individual triggers. Knowing yours may be the difference between success and failure. Between weight loss and weight gain.
