It will not increase your cost at all, but it will help financially support me as I continue to bring assistance to you and anyone who wants to achieve their goals.

I swear by Lose It! It is the first time I was able to lose weight, and more importantly, keep it off! It is easy to use, works on iOS and Android (not Windows Phones, sorry) and has an online platform, too. It combines the ease and simplicity of calorie counting with the social networking of Facebook. Many users report that they are on their LoseIt activity streams more often than they are on Facebook. There is a free version (which really works!) and a premium version, The premium version allows trackign food in the future (for better planning), setting non-weight-based goals (body fat, measurements, nutrients, blood pressures and many more). When you have premium, you can also create your own community groups and challenges. One of the nicest features of premium is that it allows you to synch your Lose It! account with other devices and applications. Get Lose It! Premium because it works.

MYST 11: Booster for May 8. Accepting Praise

I get so much positive feedback

Success will bring recognition. In business, that could be in the form of a pay raise, a bonus, a promotion, or a bigger office. In sports, that could be medals or sponsrships. Those are relatively easy to accept. They are tangible rewards, something that is measurable and comparable to other people.

In weight loss, the recognition is different. People will say things like “Have you lost weight?” or “You are getting so thin” or “You really shouldn’t lose any more weight.” Those can be handled with a simple “Yes”, “Not really” and “My goal is to be healthy”, respectively.

But what do you say to people who give verbal praise? This can be in any of the above successes. Peers and family who are unable to give that tangible recognition but are only able to say “You did great on that project” or “You were the fastest in that race” or “You look great!”

Think about those comments. What are your first responses that come to mind. Most likely the response will sound something like “I was just doing my job” or “That’s just because I practiced a lot” or “Oh, I didn’t lose that much!” People tend to be humble when presented with praise. We downplay our successes. We try to not seem boastful.

That is really wrong. Listen to the entire show for my rationale and a challenge that I am putting out to everyone.

Also, I have a few more shout-outs to reviewers. Do you want to hear your name? Give me a rating and review on iTunes today!

A Success Story! Have You Heard It Yet?

This is a shameless plug for my podcast.

You can easily find MakeYourSomedayToday (in iTunes) or (in Stitcher). If you like what you hear, please leave me a review on one of those sites (or both!) Ratings and reviews serve to demonstrate to each company that my podcast is worth promoting. That is the only way I can grow–if you, my readers and listeners give feedback to iTunes and Stitcher!

I am asking for everyone here to listen to a show or two (or all 10?) and then give me honest ratings and reviews.

The next show that I will promote here is the most recent episode, and it will feature a few unusual foods. If you listened already, you know what I am talking about. I will show pictures and give basic recipes.

By the way, if you want to hear my story, you can find it in MYST Episode 1 at either of the links about or directly from my website.

MYST 10: Brian Dunning–Researcher, Podcaster, and Vegemite?

Today’s guest is Brian Dunning. According to his online biography, he “exists as an entity.” Having talked with him during our inteview, I can confirm that statement.

dunning-headshot

However, in addition to being a corporeal entity, he is also a science writer, as well as host and producer of Skeptoid: Critical Analysis of Pop Phenomena (skeptoid.com), where he  “applies critical thinking to urban legends and popular pseudoscientific subjects promoted by the mass media. “

I’ve listened to all 412 weekly episodes. He tackles serious and humorour topics, but always with the scientific method. He also provides his references on his website, for listeners to use as a jumping off point if they want to delve deeper into the subject. He shows are about 12 minutes long, which is a great length for a single topic discussion.

If you enjoy science, history, health, medicine, aliens, mythology, literature, or just about any other area of research, I encourage you to subscribe and start listening.  Here is a link in iTunes.

His books are available in Amazon:

MYST 8: Steve Grant, Lose IT! Moderator, Yo-Yo Breaker and Poutine?

Steve Grant is a good friend that I met through Lose It! Initially he was simply and active member and enthusiastic supporter of others, but recently he became an official Lose It! moderator.

He hails from Quebec City, Quebec, and works as a software engineer. He has had a long-term struggle with his weight (and how many of us can understand that?) but he also was able to break his relationship with the “diet yo-yo.” He experienced many emotions during his journey, and I think you will connect with his experience.

He has a real story. If you do what he does, you will have similar results, like this:

MYST 7: Booster for April 24, 2014

We all have bad days. We all make mistakes. We all make bad choices. That is part of being human. If we hold our personal expections to the level of perfection, we are dooming ourselves to missing the mark.

I’m not saying don’t try to improve, but I am suggesting that you forgive yourself for those errors. And then move on. Missing a target isn’t a failure; quitting is.

Also, listen to the shout-outs to all the new reviewers on iTunes!

MYST 6: Cathy Aster–The Intersection of Amelia Earhart and Boxing?

MYST 6: Cathy Aster

Cathy Aster is a 57 year old woman, who lives the big city life. She works full time, stays active and is a weight loss success story. She used a healthy and common sense approach to losing weight by making changes that she will maintain because she did not do anything out of the ordinary.

Cathy Aster

She celebrates life, and enjoys good food, but has learned moderation. She also is another Lose It! member who is a strong supporter for other members. Additionally, she wear a Fitbit device, to track her day-long activity level to help her continue strongly as she enters her maintenance phase.

Have You Listened Yet?

My podcast is now available on iTunes and Stitcher

Have you listened to it yet? If not, please go out to one of those sites (iTunes if you use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod) and Stitcher (if you use an Android phone), subscribe and listen.

I want to grow my audience, but the only way that will happen is if more people can easily find it. And that only happens if I can make–and maintain–an appearance in iTunes New & Noteworthy. New & Noteworthy is only possible for the first eight weeks of a podcast’s life. Just 56 days. And Make Your Someday Today is already 10 days old.

Podcasts are measured by the number of subscriptions, ratings and reviews. Can you be my superhero and save the day for me?

After you help me by subscribing, rating and reviewing, drop me a line on Twitter and tell me, okay? @TrevorLaRene

MYST 5: Booster, April 17, 2014. Time to blast off!

Boosters are used in medicine to help prevent disease. They maintain a level of physical health. As a registered nurse, I am familiar with that type of booster.

But what about your motivational health?

In this case, the booster I am thinking of is like one of those huge Saturn V rockets that blasted out Apollo astronauts into orbit and then to the moon. I want to use these short shows as boosters for your motivitation and enthusiasm. I want to keep the fires burning inside you, so that you can reach your goals.

These boosters will be added every week. Most will pick up on a concept or theme that a previous guest talked about. The shows will be shorter than the interview shows, 12-15 minutes.

But tell me: which day of the week would a booster benefit you the most? Thursday? Friday? Leave me your idea in the comments below.

And as always, please leave me a rating and review in iTunes, and now available in Stitcher. I truly appreciate that!
