Have You Listened Yet?

My podcast is now available on iTunes and Stitcher

Have you listened to it yet? If not, please go out to one of those sites (iTunes if you use an iPhone, iPad, or iPod) and Stitcher (if you use an Android phone), subscribe and listen.

I want to grow my audience, but the only way that will happen is if more people can easily find it. And that only happens if I can make–and maintain–an appearance in iTunes New & Noteworthy. New & Noteworthy is only possible for the first eight weeks of a podcast’s life. Just 56 days. And Make Your Someday Today is already 10 days old.

Podcasts are measured by the number of subscriptions, ratings and reviews. Can you be my superhero and save the day for me?

After you help me by subscribing, rating and reviewing, drop me a line on Twitter and tell me, okay? @TrevorLaRene

MYST 5: Booster, April 17, 2014. Time to blast off!

Boosters are used in medicine to help prevent disease. They maintain a level of physical health. As a registered nurse, I am familiar with that type of booster.

But what about your motivational health?

In this case, the booster I am thinking of is like one of those huge Saturn V rockets that blasted out Apollo astronauts into orbit and then to the moon. I want to use these short shows as boosters for your motivitation and enthusiasm. I want to keep the fires burning inside you, so that you can reach your goals.

These boosters will be added every week. Most will pick up on a concept or theme that a previous guest talked about. The shows will be shorter than the interview shows, 12-15 minutes.

But tell me: which day of the week would a booster benefit you the most? Thursday? Friday? Leave me your idea in the comments below.

And as always, please leave me a rating and review in iTunes, and now available in Stitcher. I truly appreciate that!

MYST 4: Lisa Cain, Snack Girl to the rescue!

MYST 4 Lisa Cain, Snack Girl to the Rescue!

Lisa Cain, Ph.D. is an evolutionary biologist by day, but at night she dons her cape of good health and the mask of nutrition to become “Snack Girl!”

No, not really. She started the website as a full time endeavor in 2009 and is publishing her first cookbook on April 15, 2014. She is married to an Australian software engineer and home chef and has two children, so I am not sure how she finds the time to focus full time on her blog (www.snack-girl.com) or the cookbook, but her following of 250,000 attests to her devotion to her passion.

In 2011, Lisa was #44 on Greatist’s Most Influential People in Health and Fitness.

If you feel good health and good nutrition are not only important, but interconnected AND you also love good food, you need to check out her blog and suscribe. You can also follow her on Twitter @Snack_Girl_

The Podcast is Up and Running!

I rarely directly ask for help here, but I AM asking now! I need everyone’s help!

I want to let everyone know that my podcast has launched successfully, with three episodes published, and the fourth to be released on Monday, Apr 14. I have 8 more interviews recorded, edited and scheduled for weekly releases, every Monday. I am recording more people every week to stay ahead of schedule. This podcast will run smoothly, with at least one new episode every week.

Make Your Someday Today is available on iTunes right now.
I am waiting for acceptance to Stitcher, Windows, and Blackberry. You can also listen to it, or download it directly from my website. To be totally honest, the website is rough, but it works. Now that I have a grip (slippery, but it is a grip) on the podcast, I am going to focus on the web page.
When you listen to the show, please go to the website and leave comments on the show notes. If you download from iTunes (or any of the other sources mentioned) please go back after listening, subscribe to get future episodes automatically and leave me a 5 star review!
A few details:
The podcast is focused on helping you succeed, in any goal. I believe that reaching success requires the same steps whether you are trying to lose 50 pounds, write a book, run a marathon, or get A’s in school. It is an interview-based show (most of the episodes, at least) so you won’t be listening to me for the entire show, but rather others who faced challenges and yet persevered to reach success, and now are returning that success to others. You may know of some of my guests, especially if you already listen to podcasts, but the majority of my guests are going to be people like you and me, who set a goal, worked hard, and achieved success. We will learn their strategies.
Most of the interview shows run about 40 minutes. The non-interview shows run 15-30 minutes. The first episode was rough (in terms of sound quality) but I quickly got better.
  • The first episode is my story, and why I feel that I can help you succeed in your goals.
  • The second episode is about how the podcast will work, and the four key steps in succeeding at anything.
  • The third episode is a podcaster/entrepreneur who had plenty of challenges, and stepped outside his comfort zone to help create success for others around the world.
  • The fourth episode (available Monday, Apr 14) is a major blogger (250K hits a month) and cookbook author, who teaches a common sense way to enjoy life and still lose weight.
  • The fifth (available Monday, Apr 21) is the first LoseIt member. Many LoseIt friends will make an appearance on the podcast over the next 2-3 months.
  • The sixth episode will be a podcaster from Wisconsin who experienced a ton of challenges, and yet rose to become a successful business woman and entrepreneur.
  • The seventh will be a LoseIt member from Canada.
  • The eighth is a science podcaster, with 180K downloads a week.
If you want to know more, you need to subscribe and listen! And if you like what you hear (and so far, everyone is giving me good reviews) PLEASE tell others about the podcast in your preferred social media platform. (And a second reminder to leave a 5 star review on iTunes. That is critical to helping others find me easily in the iTunes directory, because placement is based on reviews.)

MYST 3: Meron Bareket: Entrepreneur, Magazine Owner, Radio Broadcaster, International Educator–all before age 26?

Meron Bareket has lived a fascinating life in just 26 years. He decided high school was holding him back, so he decided to jump straight into college, bypassing getting his high school diploma. He survived a devastating car accident–not his fault!–and started a business while rehabbing at his parent’s home.

Profile Photo _ high res

He worked in the IT industry for major corporations in Israel, hosted radio shows, and becoming frustrated with corporate life, he founded a magazine. He got into podcasting about a year ago and now offers a podcasting bootcamp where budding podcasters can receive the specific and detailed instructions in how to develop and launch their own podcast. And (for now) this boot camp is free!

MYST 2: So, how is all this going to work?

This will be a weekly podcast (or more often, we will see.) We will have weekly guests, who will share their personal experiences and success stories, as well as how they overcame challenges.

This episode explains the format of the show, as well as laying out all my “secrets” to success. I give the four basic steps you need to succeed at anything. I’d tell you here, but that would give it away!

MYST 1: Who is Trevor LaRene and why is he talking to YOU?

For the first time, Trevor’s story. I have told bits and pieces in various blog posts, but this episode helps to connect all the dots and explain why I am starting this podcast.

You may not need to hear this episode, but I hope you will listen to it. I try to explain what I accomplished and the struggles I encountered.

It is a rough episode, but it is honest. It is me. My voice, my stories. I am not a polished podcaster, but I will be. I jesitated publishing these podcasts, because I wanted them to be as perfect as possible before releasing them. But perfections isn’t a realistic goal, and often, “Pursing perfections prevents progress!” So I published it, flaws and all.

And I am proud that I took that step! That first show was the hardest. The first step toward any goal will always be difficult. But you CAN do it!

The show notes for every episode will include links to products, people and services that were mentioned in the episode. For example, the iPhone/iPod/Android app that I used to lose weight and then keep it off is https://www.loseit.com/.  A notice of total disclosure, as some point I may have affliations with some of those products and services that are linked here. That means that when you click on a link and purchase that product, I will receive a small commission on that sale. It will not increase your cost at all, but it will help financially support me as I continue to bring assistance to anyone who wants to achieve their goals.

The Podcast is Coming!

Get ready, world!

In only a few days, you will not only have my blog, but now my podcast! It will be an interview-based show (so that way you do not need to listen to me talk for the entire show.) Each week, my guest will have a success story. We will talk to weight loss victors, entrepreneurs, artists, and athletes. This is an international show. I have already interviewed guests from Israel, Canada and Greece as well as from across the USA. I have people in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Philippines lined up, waiting in the wings for their turn to share their success stories.

If you already an avid podcast listener, there is a chance that you may have heard of some of my awesome friends (because I interviewed some pretty big podcasters) but most of my guests are people like you. People who at one time said “Someday, I will…” and then they did it.

With me, you will learn how they accomplished their goals and overcame their challenges, what goals are yet to be conquered and other details of their journey.

I am an an “Optimistic Realist.” I believe that if you can dream it, you can achieve it, but only with the right effort and with the committment to never surrender. That is the focus of my show.

You will be able to download episodes to your iDevice from iTunes, or an Android from Stitcher, or directly from my website. Keep watching here. I will announce when the podcast is live.

This is scary. And exciting!

Grown Up Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Grown Up Grilled Cheese
Serves 1

This is the sort of “Comfort Food” that my guests on my Make Your Someday Today podcast will talk about in our interviews. Comfort foods do just that. They make us feel safe, secure and warm. They tell us that everything will be all right, that success will arrive, but only if we get moving toward.

2 slices of your preferred bread
2 slices of your preferred cheese
2-3 slices of tomato
1 jalapeno cut into strips
1/4 avocado, sliced
1 teaspoon Vegemite (optional)
1 tablespoon mayonnaise

  1. Prepare your ingredients. Preheat non-stick griddle or skillet.
  2. Spread the Vegemite on one slice of cheese (optional).
  3. Spread the mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Lay the bread mayo-side DOWN on griddle.
  5. Lay the Vegemite spread cheese on the bread, Vegemite down.
  6. Arrange the remaining ingredients on the cheese.
  7. Top with second piece of cheese and bread, mayo-side UP.
  8. Grilled until the edge gets brown (2-4 minutes, depending on the heat.)
  9. With a spatula, carefully flip and grill the second side.

Make Your Someday Today is a twice-weekly podcast, where we talk to successful people in all walks of life and around the world on Monday, and then on Thursday, I take a specific message from the previous guest and give my “Trevitorial”, where I help you apply that message to your life. The entire purpose of the show is to help all of us overcome our challenges and fears and become the person we want to be, the person we deserve to be.
